Raku Platter -11"

An impressive contemporary art pottery platter handcrafted by noted Vermont ceramicist, Andrew Berends. Raku pottery originated in Japan during the the 16th century and was originally intended to be use as ceremonial tea ware. Berends' studio art pottery is a combination of Raku and contemporary design, with the stunning contrasting colors of turquoise blue, black, grey and hints of metallic shades. It's copper metallic glaze will develop a rich patina over time. Designed for table top or wall art, platters come ready to hang with hook built-in. Each piece is a one of a kind due to the type of process that is involved. Platters are porous and cannot be filled with water. Glazes are not food safe.

*SPECIAL NOTE- Berends is discontinuing this collection to focus on his new collections. Love it? Buy it! It will not be here much longer. Very Limited stock left!
